Julia Rossiter

Founder of Matriark
& Personal Trainer

Playing sports is in my blood. My earliest memories involve hockey, volleyball and swimming. I made a commitment to myself about 10 years ago to start lifting weights regularly. The world of CrossFit quickly caught my eye in 2019. I’ve never looked back. I’m a Certified Personal Trainer, CrossFit L1 coach and ALP Candidate who enjoys working with open-minded women who want to get strong AF.

I was also a licensed practical nurse in another life. It’s one of the reasons why I became a personal trainer and started Matriark. Nursing showed me firsthand how disconnected preventative and primary health is for people. There are many barriers to health and fitness. I want to change that. 

The Matriark community supports others, stands up for what they believe in, and gives back to those who need it most. 

I’m also all about balance. I want to give you options for workouts so that you can live your best life every day (most days, we’re all human 🙂).

I grew up doing competitive gymnastics and although I loved it, it took a toll on me. After many injuries and a lack of balance in my life, I took a long break from sports and fitness. Once I found it again and started lifting weights I was amazed at how much better I felt in my body (and my mind too!).

I got into coaching through CrossFit and continued to pursue further knowledge through various certifications such as NCCP Weightlifting, Eat to Perform, and Precision Nutrition, and most recently a Diploma in Holistic Nutrition.

Shifting my focus towards nutrition coaching was one of the most exciting changes I made and is truly my passion. I love helping busy humans find simple and sustainable ways to reach their health and fitness goals. I thrive on collaboration and love to create deep and meaningful relationships with my clients and community.

I’m born & raised in Victoria, BC, and in my downtime, I love hiking with my husband and highly energetic dog Lea, spending time figuring out how to keep plants alive, and paddle boarding on Thetis Lake with my pals.
